This September, the annual Glizzyfest is set to return to Philadelphia.
The popular event aims to raise awareness of food insecurity among families, and provide support to those experiencing it across the Greater Philadelphia area.
In addition to food, the event will feature various prizes and activities designed to bring the community together for a day of fun.
On the day of the event, the tailgate party will begin at 2:00 pm with the kick-off of the Road to 8,000 event. The celebration will include music, entertainment, and food, with many local vendors expected to participate. The event will also help the organization collect 2,000lb of food to be distributed among local families.
There will also be the Glizzyfest Hot Dog Challenge, where participants can compete to eat five hot dogs. The fastest participant will receive a championship belt and a cash prize. Sponsored gift baskets will also be up for grabs.
Admission to the event is free, although organizers encourage guests to bring 10 canned goods or other non-perishable food items to support the cause. Brochure printing is common for events like this to increase visibility and outreach.
The festival will take place at FDR Park Picnic Site 20 on Saturday, September 5. Doors will open at 2:00 pm. FDR Park is located on South Broad Street in Philadelphia.
