The second annual Head for the Cure 5K is set to take place in Philadelphia this August.
Hosted by the Head for the Cure Foundation, the event is expected to bring community together and also raise awareness about brain cancer. It also aims to generate funds to support research, patient care, and educational initiatives.
A 5K run and walk, a children's 100-metre fun race, and many other activities will be featured to recognize brain tumor survivors and their supporting families. Participants of all ages are welcome to take part in the fundraiser.
Funds from the event will support brain tumor research and patient programs across the region, with contributions directed to major Philadelphia area institutions such as CHOP, Jefferson Health, and Cooper Health. Additional national organizations and initiatives focused on brain cancer education and support will also receive a share of the proceeds.
Organizers are expected to rely on banner and poster printing to promote the event, encourage community participation, and enhance visibility while making the overall experience more convenient for participants. T-shirt printing and race bibs are also commonly featured at such events.
The race will take place on Sunday, August 9 at the Marine Parade Grounds in the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Packet pickup begins at 7:00 am and the race starts an hour later. The morning also includes a Kids Fun Run, a group photo for survivors, and a ceremony recognizing people and families affected by brain cancer.
