Philadelphia hosts only U.S. stop of Impressionist exhibit

The exhibition ‘Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel and the New Painting’ will soon be showing in Philadelphia.

Paul Durand-Ruel was an art dealer who embraced Impressionism. The exhibit covers the years from 1865 to 1905 when he worked with many artists who have since become famous. There are around 80 works of art featured by artists like Pissarro, Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Manet, and related photographs and documents are also included. The exhibition will only be showing in Philadelphia, London, and Paris.

The opening gala for the exhibit will be a fundraiser for the museum, and guests will enjoy live entertainment and food while getting a preview of the artworks. Ticket prices range from $100 up to $10,000.

Two other related events are a lecture by Paul-Louis and Flavie Durand-Ruel, who are distantly related to Paul Durand-Ruel, and a Parisian Cabaret.

Art lovers from all over Philadelphia, and those who work for graphics or printing companies, will likely want to visit this exhibit at least once.

‘Discovering the Impressionist’ is showing at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from June 24 to September 13. Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, $20 for youth, and $12 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday. The opening gala will be held on June 20 from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Call 215-684-7750 to learn more.
