While introduced species such as honeybees may be important pollinators, there are many native species that also play a vital role, and a Philadelphia presentation will explore these in depth.
A two-hour learning opportunity is set to be hosted at the Morris Arboretum, and it will introduce the attendees to the wide range of insects, birds, and other animals that act as pollinators. The activity will explore how some are active in the day while others, such as moths, prefer the night, and both members and non-members are invited to take a seat.
During the session, the facilitator will introduce species such as sphinx moths, mining, and solitary bees as well as beetles and birds that are all important parts of the life cycle of many native plants. They will find out how to attract them to their garden and why they make a difference. Tickets for the activity start at $35 each.
The fall can be a great time of year for home horticulturalists to add to their knowledge base. Handouts for a workshop may be crafted by local Stationery printers and can include a full color graphic design and other visual elements.
This chance for native pollinators to have their time in the spotlight is set for November 10. It will begin at 8:30 am sharp, and will continue on until 10:00 am.
