‘The World is an Apple: the Still Lifes of Paul Cezanne’ has just begun its stint at the Barnes Foundation and will be there until September. This is the only American stop on the tour.
The exhibit, which features works from the Musee d'Orsay, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Barnes Foundation itself, is curated by Benedict Leca of the Art Gallery of Hamilton. The exhibition will be showing 21 paintings by the French Post-Impressionist painter(16 of them from the Barnes' permanent collection), ranging from his early to late periods. It is expected to show how the artist changed the still life genre.
This event should be of great interest to those who are fans of the artist or the still life genre. No doubt many of those attending this Philadelphia exhibition will also be working artists or will work for local graphics design and printing companies, believing that seeing art in action will educate them and provide inspiration.
‘The World is an Apple’ is showing at the Barnes Foundation up until September 22, having got underway last weekend. Admission to the Foundation, including the price of admission to the exhibit, is $29, $27 for seniors, and $15 for children between the ages of 6 and 18. Those interested can call 215-278-7000 to learn more.
