Hanover historical society offers festive experience

The Hanover Area Historical Society (HAHS) will be holding a Christmas-themed tour until January at the Warehime Myers Mansion.

HAHS Holiday Happenings is a series of festive programs where guests can view seasonal decorations while learning about historical landmarks. The Christmas Tree Tours at the Warehime Myers Mansion activity will take visitors past more than 40 trees that have been decorated by school groups and local organizations. The tours continue to the Hanover Area History Museum’s gift shop to show guests antique instruments, vintage toys, and a model train display.

The HAHS was created in 1965 by Hanover citizens who wanted to protect the historical heritage of their community. Several landmarks are maintained by the group, such as the Neas House and the Carriage House. The charitable organization opened Hanover’s history museum in 2021. People interested in becoming part of the HAHS can pay $25. Students will receive discounted membership fees, while families may purchase a membership to the group for $45.

The Christmas tree tours will continue until Saturday, January 14. The cost to participate in the historical society’s event is $5, and no registration is needed to attend the program. Tours held during the evening will include hot chocolate and cookies, and most of the evening tours will feature live music. Historical organizations that arrange holiday programs such as this may utilize banner printing to market their festivities to motorists.
