Hiking excursion shares fall foliage in Gibsonia
Hikers in Gibsonia will want to make a note in their calendars, as a group hiking excursion will be hitting the trail in a few weeks.
The Day Hike: Autumn Changes excursion is set to welcome interested parties and registered guests for a hike in North Park. The hike will cover the Irwin Run/Red Trail portion of the park, tackling around 3.5 miles of trail. It is being organized by the Latodami Nature Center as a way to bring Gibsonia residents closer to nature.
Interested parties are encouraged to pack a lunch and lots of drinking water to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable hike. The hike’s leaders will make plenty of stops along the route to share facts about historical features and natural formations along the trail. Print shops can provide maps to hikers on such excursions, serving as a navigation resource and a souvenir for participants.
The emphasis of the hike will be the changing foliage, spooky stories about the surrounding area, and witnessing the hawk migration. Some sections of the hike are long and steep, and participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes for extra protection.
The hikers will meet at the Lakeview Shelter in Gibsonia on Saturday, October 18th, at 9:00 AM. The excursion is expected to end around 2:00 PM. Registration is free online, and spots are limited.
