Educational hike helps Gibsonia residents get outside
Hikers and nature lovers will want to keep an open schedule for next month, as a naturalist-led hiking event is being planned for the Gibsonia area.
The Day Hike With a Naturalist, which is being organized by Friends of Latodami, will hit the trails around Gibsonia soon, and area nature lovers are invited to gear up and join for an immersive learning experience. Registration will be required for this event, and spots are limited, so interested parties should reserve a spot while they are still available.
The hike will cover 3.5 miles in the South Ridge area of North Park. Participants are encouraged to pack a lunch or snacks, and enough water to remain hydrated throughout the journey. The group will make a series of stops during the walk to learn about the historical and natural features in the area.
Visitors will learn more about the native wildflowers along the route. Printing services are an excellent resource for maps and other information to add to the hiking and learning experience. The hike is rated moderate-to-difficult, with some steep hills and a stream crossing. Hiking shoes or boots and a pack with essentials are recommended.
