Doylestown kids to help local birds

Kids are often fascinated by the natural world around them, and a Doylestown activity will see them preparing some special treats for their feathered friends.

The Nature Center will be hosting a drop-in activity that will provide a fun introduction to the value of environmental stewardship. There’s no admission fee, and pre-registration is not required.

Each of the children will be given the materials needed to prepare special treats for local birds, and the black oil sunflowers seeds and other ingredients will help them to make it through the cold winter weather. They will make one to take home and another to hang on the Center’s Solstice tree, and once everyone is finished, they will be invited to enjoy a story and socialize with the other attendees. Kids will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Once the activity is over and the kids are at home, they can hang their feeder and watch as their feathered friends enjoy their feast. Providing each participant in this type of occasion with a guide will aid them in identifying the birds that pay a visit, and a Stationery printing company will be pleased to help.

The Peace Valley Nature Center will be hosting its Bird Treat Workshop on December 20. A registration link for the activity can be found on its Patch listing.
