Bluebirds used to be a common species in the Doylestown area, and thanks to efforts like an upcoming activity, they have been making a comeback.
The Peace Valley Nature Center offers an assortment of programming, and one of its workshops planned for this winter will craft nesting Boxes for bluebirds and other cavity nesters like chickadees. There are enough spaces for up to 20 participants, and pre-registration is mandatory.
During the afternoon event, the attendees will discover a wealth of information about bluebirds as well as why their numbers had been dropping. They will learn about their ecology, what they eat, and also what they need to survive. The completed Boxes can be installed once they are finished, as the males will be returning and looking for good spots to raise their families. The materials for the project will be supplied, but everyone has been asked to bring a Phillips head screwdriver.
Many people care about the environment, but may not know what to do to help. A class like this offers a fun and easy way to get started, and offering the learners Promotional Products like vehicle decals, stickers and other items is an easy way to help spread the word about the importance of conservation.
The registration fee for this activity starts at $20.00 each, and it has been scheduled for February 21. Additional details can be found on the Peace Valley Nature Center’s website.
