The people of the northern Philadelphia suburb of Doylestown, which is known for its small town charms and scenic architecture, have been working extra hard this year to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to their streets.
Though snow has barely fallen this December, many visitors are already claiming that downtown Doylestown is reminiscent of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ city Bedford Falls.
With lights, tinsel and ribbon hanging from nearly every building, the population of Doylestown have crafted a true winter wonderland. The Fountain House – built in 1758 – is all alight, as is the imposing Mercer Museum and nearby Fonthill Castle. Of course, there are events as well, like the Shady Brook Farm light show, the Holiday Lights Bike Tour and the Grace Point ‘One Winter Night’ Celebration.
On top of this, the decorations have been a boon to businesses of all types in the area. The local Print companies have been hard at work crafting Banners, hymnals, decorations, and caroling Books, while the restaurants, inns, and shops have enjoyed drastically increased traffic by visitors from as far away as Long Island, New York and Punxsutawney.
