Symphony offers three upcoming concerts
Lewis Center’s classical music aficionados may enjoy The Central Ohio Symphony as it presents a trio of concerts over the coming weeks.
The concert’s season debut will open with Cold Mountain Suite, a segment of an opera composed by Jennifer Higdon. That will be followed by renowned violinist Guillermo Figueroa playing Miguel Aguila’s new violin concerto. The evening’s finale will be Camille Saint Saens’ Organ Symphony No. 3. It will be performed this Saturday, October 21 beginning at 7:30 pm.
In November, the symphony will open with a new work, Vitality, by Gala Flagello, a Michigan composer. The composer will attend the concert and meet with the patrons.
Organist Amanda Mole will perform the famous Poulenc’s Organ Concerto on the Gray Chapel organ, and the orchestra will end the concert with Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2. The Central Ohio Symphony November Concert will take place from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday, November 18.
Finally, the Sounds of the Holidays will be the theme of the orchestra’s final concert of 2023. Guest artist Sarah Scharbrough will join the orchestra and conductor Jaime Morales in presenting holiday and seasonal favorites.
Central Ohio’s Holiday Concert will take place on Sunday, December 10 from 2:00 pm and again at 4:30 pm.
All concerts will be given at the Gray Chapel at the Ohio Wesleyan University Chapel, 61 S. Sandusky Street, Delaware. Larger companies often give monetary corporate gifts to music organizations like this as part of their community outreach programs.
