What's Happening in Lewis Center, OH…

Medical campus planned for Lewis Center

Two healthcare organizations, OhioHealth Corp. and Nationwide Children's Hospital, are working together to create a new facility in Lewis Center.

The new center will comprise 70,000 square feet, and feature an urgent care center in each of the facilities. When completed, there will be four outpatient centers, one for each of the Columbus hospital systems, within two miles of each other on Route 23.

The Columbus pediatric hospital is seeking approval to rezone four acres near Gooding Boulevard, where it will build a facility. If approved, it is likely construction could start in June 2015, with the opening slated for mid-2016.

Nationwide Children's part of the medical campus would include what it calls a ‘Close to Home Center’, comprised of an urgent care facility, as well as a lab, imaging facility, and pediatric offices.

OhioHealth would bring its extant outpatient services to the new Lewis Center medical campus, and consolidate them. Nearby, Mount Carmel Health System has begun construction on a Fitness & Health facility, while Wexner Medical Center has a CarePoint location less than two miles from the proposed Lewis Center site.

With so many medical offices in one location, patients may require clarification. The healthcare systems' managers might work together, and contact brochure printers, to devise a booklet that explains all the options at the new center.
