Annual running event returns to Lewis Center
The Rocks and Roots 2021 Winter Series is set to continue throughout next month in Lewis Center.
All registrants received the Trail Package, which includes a Rocks and Roots hoody and T-shirt, finisher medal, handheld water bottle, and Feetures socks.
This statewide running event began this month as a virtual event for 2021. Runners from all over Ohio, including Lewis Center, have registered to complete their chosen running distances. Divisions include the Mileage Challenge, as well as a 50k, 40k, 30k, 20k, and 10k race. While most of the races have set distances, the Mileage Challenge allows participants to set their own record of as many or as few miles as they wish throughout the duration of the event. Poster printing is a way favored by many event hosts to advertise across myriad locations so that more people become aware of the event.
While the race traditionally occurs on the Alum Creek Rocks and Roots Trail Lewis Center, participants may instead choose to run another route. Athletes may post their results online. Mileage Challenge participants who cover 250 miles or more in total will earn the Bronze Buckle. Individuals who log 500 miles win the Silver buckle, and the Handcrafted Wood Buckle is awarded to athletes who complete 750 miles.
This virtual race is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, February 28.
