Major tournament coming to Lebanon area

One of the nation's biggest basketball contests will be in the Lebanon area in a few weeks.

Flyin' to the Hoops, the second-largest basketball tournament in the country, will be played in Kettering soon. This is the 18th year for the tournament, which is recognized throughout the world as one of the premiere events for high school players. Over the four days of the tournament, 38 teams will play in 20 games.

The tournament is sponsored by Premiere Health, which will be offering tips every week leading up to the event. Also involved is Sports Image, an all-inclusive event and sports marketing firm that helps schools and organizations throughout the nation by obtaining sponsorships to help schools and others obtain the athletic equipment they need, but which may be beyond their means. They also handle the marketing that draws crowds to various events, such as the Flyin' to the Hoops' tournaments. Sports Image also consults with various organizations to help develop and implement their sports programs.

The upcoming tournament is expected to draw an excess of 20,000 fans, hundreds of media representatives, and more than 100 coaches from various divisions throughout the area.

Flyin' to the Hoops will take place January 17-20, at the James S. Trent Arena on Shroyer Road in Kettering, a short trip from Lebanon. There is parking available for 3,000 vehicles, both on-street and in lots. Poster printing is often used for publicity when events like this are scheduled.
