Lebanon's historic downtown ready for the holidays

The holidays are on the way and Lebanon's Historic Downtown area has already begun celebrating. According to an item on the city's website, this weekend is to be packed with activities.

On Friday, November 28, downtown is offering a Merchant's Open House, which runs from 10:30 am until 8:00 pm with shops open late. Friday is also the day Lebanon lights its Christmas tree, with the Holiday Illumination scheduled for 6:30 pm in Christmas Tree Park. Attendees can also visit Santa Claus, who will be in the Town Hall from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

There is more fun on tap that night, with free carriage rides in front of the Town Hall from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Two displays are up for viewing; railroad buffs can see the model train display at the Best Cafe on Mulberry Street from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, while those whose taste runs to goodies can view a display of gingerbread houses from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Warren County Museum.

Saturday continues the festivities, with another Merchant's Open House from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, more carriage rides (1:00 pm to 5:00 pm), and the continuing train and gingerbread house displays, with slightly shorter hours. Finally, for those over 21, there is a ‘Toast to Dickens’ Pub Crawl.

District officials could work with a banner printing company to create festive flags to hang throughout the downtown area.
