The annual Montgomery County Fair is now underway in Lebanon. According to its website, it is an old-fashioned county fair featuring many traditional events.
Among the activities are rides and games, a 4-H Rabbit Show, a flower show, and a swine show. There will be an auction of cakes and pies, chicken and turkey shows, and a course for dogs to demonstrate their agility and obedience. Sheep and lambs, as well as cattle, will also be shown, and some of the livestock will be available for sale. A flower show is on the schedule as well.
Admission to the fair is free and parking is $2, but attendees are asked to bring one non-perishable item of food to be donated at the entrance. The food collected will be delivered to the Dayton Food Bank. Although general admission is free, some special events require separate admission. These include harness racing, the Black Cat Hell Drivers, and a demolition derby. Other entertainment events are free.
Some of the days are dedicated to individuals who have made a difference to the community, and one day is dedicated to first responders.
The fair opened August 27 and runs for six days, through September 1. Most buildings opened to the public at noon.
Organizers of events like this can work with a banner printing company to create a number of colorful outdoor flags to be displayed throughout the fairgrounds.
