Lebanon residents test online grocery shopping

Kroger is thinking of introducing online shopping, and has chosen to test the concept in Lebanon.

The retailer has recently invited certain customers to its Lebanon store, located on Columbus Avenue, to test the system. The test comes at the same time Kroger expands the concept to a second location in Ohio.

Last month, Kroger extended the online shopping option to all its shoppers at the Kroger Marketplace, located on Yankee Road in Liberty Township. However, before it made the option available, it tested the concept with certain customers and employees, as it's doing in Lebanon. The Liberty Township store is the first to offer online ordering to all its customers.

Shoppers who are participating in the test go to the company's online shopping website, fill up their cart, and select a location and time for pick-up. Once the order is placed, a Kroger employee picks the items, and stores them in the proper locations temperature-wise, until it's time for the pick-up. Then the Bags are packed and loaded in the customer's car by Kroger employees. The shopper can pay via a drive-through window, without ever leaving their car.

Kroger officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to ensure that its selected customers in Lebanon are aware of the service and how it works, and reminding them to try the option.
