Warren County has announced the 2017 Annual Tree Seedling Sale, offering 25 different shrubs and trees for sale to interested residents, which can be picked up in April at the Warren County Fairgrounds on Broadway in Lebanon.
The sale of seedlings is a joint effort by Butler and Warren Counties. Both counties' soil and water conservation districts believe strongly in the benefits of having thriving trees in a community. They note that trees provide oxygen and clean air. They save water, keep streets cool, prevent soil erosion, provide habitat for wildlife, and increase property value.
The districts also offer advice on keeping the trees healthy. They note that if buyers intend to plant the tree within two days, they can leave it in the original package in a shady or cool location. If there will be a delay in planting, the experts suggest the person should open the package and keep the roots and packing materials damp until the tree is planted. If the roots dry out, the tree will not survive.
The deadline for ordering trees is March 17. Those who purchase trees can pick them up on Thursday, April 6, from noon until 5:30 pm; on Friday, April 7 from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm; and on Sunday, April 8, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
Efforts like this can benefit if organizers work with a postcard printing company on a card announcing the sale.
