Glendower mansion calls for volunteers

The Warren County Historical Society is looking for volunteers to act as tour guides this summer.

Those who come forward will work at the Glendower Historic Mansion on Cincinnati Avenue in Lebanon.

Elizabeth Grauwelman, Glendower Historical Mansion's Manager, said she was looking for people who enjoy art, history, and culture, and who would like to share the building's history with visitors. Adults of any age are encouraged to volunteer, as are students in high school and college. Volunteers are not required to wear costumes, but if they would like to do so, they may borrow clothing from the Mansion's collection.

Volunteers will be given three training classes, and provided with a Glendower Tour Guide Handbook. Those who become volunteer guides will be asked to work one day per week throughout the summer months.

The classes are scheduled for May 26, June 2, and June 7, at the Glendower Mansion, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. each day. Volunteers are expected to work one day each week during the period June 8 through September 3. The mansion is open for guided tours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Historical society officials might consider working with a postcard printing company to create a card for a targeted Mailing, inviting residents of the area to consider applying for a volunteer position.
