Carriage Parade ushers in holidays in Lebanon

The holidays arrived in Lebanon in style, via horse-drawn carriage.

For the 27th year in a row, the Lebanon Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade and Christmas Festival put residents in the holiday spirit. The parade took place on Saturday, December 5 and was a family-oriented event.

Featured in the two parades that took place—a daytime parade that kicked off at 1:00 pm and a candlelit evening event—were over 100 antique carriages, decorated for the season and pulled by a variety of horses. Among the breeds in harness were Percherons, Clydesdales, and miniature horses. The carriages were decorated in battery-powered holiday lights, while spectators held candles as they watched the carriages roll by.

A number of seasonal activities were also available, including carolers, a hand bell choir, carriage rides, a live nativity scene, a ride on the North Pole Express train, story telling, and photos opportunities with the Clauses. More than 80 specialty and antique stores were open for visitors to do their Christmas shopping.

Visitors were also able to tour the Glendower Historic Mansion Museum, which was open to all, free of charge, from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. Adding to the fun was the fact the museum was decorated for the holidays, and its interpreters were in costume.

Lebanon officials might continue to celebrate the holidays as a community by having festive Banners printed in a holiday motif, and displaying them throughout the city's downtown, from lampposts and other supports.
