Aja, A Tribute To the Music of Steely Dan will be appearing at The Hidden Gem, sharing the original group’s iconic music with fans. Aja came to notice in 2005 when they organized and hosted a festival in Cincinnati devoted to Steely Dan. They pulled in regional acts, and Bernard Purdie – Steely Dan’s drummer – was the special guest.
Since that ground-breaking performance, Aja has built a solid local following that loves to dance or chill to classic tunes like “My Old School,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” and “Deacon Blues,” performed the way the original group sang them. Aja is based at the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, and consistently sells out concerts.
Aja has 10 members, all of whom are professional musicians from several different genres. The depth in the band means they can recreate the original with the reverence it deserves, but they nonetheless continue to grow and stretch in different directions. Bernard Purdie, the Steely Dan drummer, says of Aja:
"...wonderful, fantastic....I have played with many of the Steely Dan tribute bands and Aja is certainly the finest.”
The concert is Saturday, February 11 from 8.00 pm until 11.00 pm, and The Hidden Gem Music Club is on Miamisburg Centerville Road in Dayton, a short distance from Kettering. When events like this are planned, organizers can create effective advertising by using poster printing.
