Prohibition-themed eatery and bar starting-up in Hamilton

Nicci Meece is opening Nic & Norm’s Sidecar Bar, a Prohibition themed establishment, at 221S. B Street in Hamilton, most likely during the first quarter of 2022.

Meece, who came to Butler County when she was 15, is a 1992 Talawanda High School graduate whose father owned an Irish/German pub. A building rehabber, she had been searching for a good site to open her own restaurant for about two years. She settled upon the Prohibition era because at that time Hamilton was thriving and the criminal activity in the city led to it being given the local nicknamed “Little Chicago”.

Continuity of style is important when pulling together all the promotional aspects of a new business such as logo, Letterheads, and, in the case of restaurants, Menus.

Nicci Meece was quoted in the Dayton Daily News as saying:

“We’re gearing more toward a bourbon-style bar, with a number of meals that feature bacon because smoked meat and bourbon go well together.”

Brad Reid, Nicci’s life partner, will be the general manager of Nic and Norm’s Sidecar. The restaurant will feature exposed brick with industrial lighting and offer seating for 90. The possibility of a cigar smokehouse where bourbon and cigars can be enjoyed is being considered for the future. There are plans for a 20-by-50-foot patio as well.

A sidecar was a popular drink of the era; Nic and Norm’s Sidecar Bar will feature a vintage motorcycle sidecar out front.
