A renovated storefront in downtown Hamilton is being converted into a games room with food and drinks by VPcabs Virtual Pinball, as well as serving as the Butler County business’s new home.
The Pinball Garage offers ‘old school’ entertainment in the form of retro pinball and other arcade games. Owner Brad Baker will have 32 pinball machines, dating from the 1970s all the way up to the present, along with eight to ten arcade games. The name, Pinball Garage, is a shout out to the location's history; its last occupant was Jim’s Auto Service Store, which left the location in 2018.
Baker’s VPcabs Virtual Pinball, founded in 2013, builds Wi-Fi-ready pinball machines capable of downloading thousands of games. Four different machines are manufactured by the company, the greatest share of which, by far, are purchased by individuals for use at home. In a given year, 300 to 500 machines are sold, none of them coin-operated.
Operating two businesses at one location enables Promotional Products to be used to promote both simultaneously.
The new business as well as VPcabs Virtual Pinball will be located at 113 North 3rd Street. Although food will not at first be prepared onsite, according to Baker, Pinball Garage will be partnering with at least two local food establishments. Moreover, an application has been filed for a D-5 (full bar) liquor license.
Baker hopes to have The Pinball Garage open by April.
