Lebanon ice cream shop branches out with Hamilton parlor

Hamilton now has its own ice cream parlor; the Village Parlor of Hamilton is open for business at 302 Main Street.

The new shop is owned by Aaron Zwelling, who was able to use many exiting embellishments from the past businesses that occupied the building. The new shop retained the existing tin ceilings, original counter top, and mirror, as well as old stools.

The recently opened shop will be supplied by the Bexley, Ohio family-owned Johnson’s Real Ice Cream and feature hand-rolled fresh waffle bowls and cones. A selection of sundaes, double-dip sodas, malts, and milkshakes will also be available.

The ice cream parlor opened in what many Hamilton residents have known as the Davis building, which is where Hughes Pharmacy was located. Since the building was built in 1905, it is believed to have always had an ice cream parlor and pharmacy.

The original Village Ice Cream Parlor, now referred to as The Village Parlor, opened in Lebanon on Independence Day in 1969. At that time, the ice cream was served in a glass and in silver dishes. Today, that establishment is a restaurant as well as an ice cream shop and serves burgers, made-from-scratch soup, and fresh salads.

Hours for Hamilton’s new ice cream parlor are Sunday through Thursday 11:00 am – 8:00 pm and Friday and Saturday 11:00 am – 9:00 pm.
