Independence Day fireworks to take place from new location

A few large fireworks were set off in Hamilton last week to determine the best location for the new Fourth of July fireworks show that would not involve crowds gathering downtown as they have in the past.

After conferring with a fireworks contractor, the city of Hamilton selected two possible locations from which to launch the big pyrotechnic display next month. On the night of the test, around two dozen volunteers were positioned around the city to determine which launch location offered the public the best view. A record of what the volunteers observed was made via their cell phones for later evaluation.

Once a launch site has been decided upon, the Hamilton city officials will be able to notify residents of the best viewing locations from which they can watch throughout the city. It was unclear how long it would be before the best viewing areas would be announce but it was expected to take several days.

Ensuring that residents receive information about upcoming events is sometimes accomplished with the help of a flyer printing service.

According to city spokesperson Brandon Sauber, the test was conducted without any announcement of the launch locations to avoid people gathering for the testing, particularly when only a few shells would be fired. Although prior to the tests it was made known that one test location would be in the northeastern part of Hamilton and the other in its southwestern area.
