Joshua Smith, city manager for Hamilton, has announced that the proposed apartment complex to be built near Miami University Hamilton campus, as well as the Vora Technology Park, are green lighted.
Miami’s Hamilton campus spokesman Perry Richardson clarified that the university is not a participant in the project and the over 200 units planned will not officially be student housing. However, it will take a lot of the housing pressure off both students and faculty.
In addition to benefiting those students who will be living in the new apartments, it is anticipated that the added concentration of students in the area will prompt increased shopping options that will benefit everyone in the area.
Existing local businesses will likely be consulting Print shops to adjust their strategies when the new apartments open so as to get a jump on any incoming competitors.
It was in late 2016 that developer ARK Investments Partners made its plans to construct 204 two-bedroom market-rate apartments spread out among 15 three-story buildings. A master plan in Hamilton for the area between Lindenwald and Second Ward neighborhoods shows a closely placed mixture of residential and business properties, at about 1.5 miles south of the city’s downtown.
Another major apartment development, this one north of downtown, is also planned. The Marcum project will include street-level eateries, as well as other enterprises on its ground level.
