Construction on Five Point roundabout beginning in 2022

The actual construction of Hamilton’s planned for Five Point roundabout will not take place this year due to acquiring right of ways and complex issues involving multiple municipalities and utilities.

The roundabout’s design is nearly ready for final approval and right-of-way negotiations for the land needed to accommodate the roundabout has just begun. In the fall, it is anticipated that the relocation of the utilities will begin and is expected to take at least a year.

Once completed, the presence of the roundabout is expected to result in additional traffic on Grand Boulevard, making it a more appealing corridor for businesses to locate.

Anytime traffic flow changes, it presents an opportunity for businesses to consult with printing services and update their promotional tools.

The location will be partly in the city of Hamilton and partly in Fairfield Twp. This means that both the city and the county will each have to handle the moving of their utility lines. Speaking for the Butler County Engineer’s Office Betty Horton explained:

“There’s Duke, and there’s Hamilton, and there’s Cincinnati Bell, Spectrum, Butler County Water and Sewer. There’s just a lot of agencies going out there. When one gets done, another one comes in, and they can’t do their work until the other one is done.”

Construction is set to begin in 2022; the cost is expected to be $2.45 million, which does not include the cost of obtaining the right of way on several properties.
