As of January 1, Hamilton will join over 300 other Ohio municipalities in using RITA for income tax services. The switch will provide a number of benefits to the city while continuing local income tax assistance. RITA will offer additional online filing options for taxpayers as well as tax professionals.
Hamilton Assistant Finance Director Matthew McKinney said:
“In the past many tax preparers would charge extra to file local income taxes or would not do it at all because of the extra, unfamiliar, work required.”
Hamilton taxpayers can expect to receive a welcome letter from RITA in the next few weeks supplying contact information and a description of the services they are offering.
Many companies rely on printing services to Print, address and mail information to their stakeholders.
According to Hamilton Finance Director Dave Jones, nearly 92% of taxpayers file their federal returns electronically. RITA, he says, will enable many more Hamilton residents to e-file their local return, resulting in a more efficient use of the city’s resources. City workers will not be processing paper returns, and taxpayers and tax professionals will be able to simply push a button to file their city returns.
