Kroger is planning to renovate its Fairfield store, located in Village Green, spending $1.5 million in the effort. Shoppers are likely to notice gradual changes, as the work is planned to take place in phases, over the span of a few months.
Kroger has invested significant time and money in its stores in the Cincinnati area recently, such as spending a year renovating its store in Liberty Township, placing a greater emphasis on fresh foods, and fast foods. Liberty was just one of 12 stores that were renovated in the area in the past year.
Fairfield, however, will not receive the same type of makeover, according to Erin Rolfes, a company spokeswoman, noting the upgrades will be smaller. Customers are likely to notice the exterior sign will have new LED lights, as will the doors to the dairy department. The dairy case will be relocated, and a new salad bar will be installed. An “Easy For You!” case, which provides seafood ready for the oven will be added, as will additional checkout lanes. New décor, including new tiles, is also planned.
Rolfes said that the company examines its existing stores each year to determine which need major work, and which need a little TLC. The Fairfield store, which relocated and reopened in 2002, needs only minor upgrades. Managers of stores like this can use banner printing to create decorations to celebrate the upgrades.
