Fairfield workshop to explore the nighttime sky

Humans have long looked to the stars with wonder, and a Fairfield event will help amateur stargazers to get their feet wet in the new year.

The Community Arts Center, which is located at 411 Wessel Drive, will be offering the public an opportunity to discover the joys of watching the nighttime sky. It will be held in early March, and it is free for all ages.

Participants in the session will learn about some of the more easily identifiable constellations, and the facilitator will also share some of the folklore and legends different cultures have developed about the stars. The science of studying the nighttime sky will also be discussed, and no special equipment is required to take part. The activity will run for one hour, and both indoor and outdoor learning will be incorporated.

This nature-based activity is part of a schedule of sessions that will be held in various outdoor Fairfield locations throughout the winter and early spring. Community guides may be helpful tools for local households when making plans, and these can be prepared by area printing services companies.

This introduction to the fun of backyard stargazing without a telescope will run from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 8. Anyone interested in participating can sign up through the Fairfield Parks and Recreation website’s calendar.
