Fairfield to go Red, White & Kaboom on July 4

Municipalities across the country, including Fairfield, are planning fireworks for the Fourth of July, but Fairfield's are offering something a little different.

The show is being put on by Rozzi's Famous Fireworks, a company based in Loveland. The explosives are being set up on a hilltop in Fairfield's largest city park, Harbin Park. Technicians are placing two banks of shells with a gap between them; one bank is for the main show and the second for the finale. The main show bank comprises about 400 shells, but the finale uses 600, which are fired in a much shorter time.

Viewers have multiple vantage points to see the spectacle, with all of them likely to be good because the explosives are on a hill. Good viewing can be found in Harbin Park itself, or at the Fairfield Aquatic Center or Village Green Park.

Although there is a chance of rain, fireworks technician Andy Noller says the show will probably go on, since rain by itself does not stop the fun. However, lightning or high winds, or both, would force a cancellation.

The event, which includes music by various groups, begins at 7.30 pm on July 4, with the fireworks slated for 10:00 pm. Event organizers could work with a banner printing company to create a festive banner for the occasion.
