Fairfield schools work to make children's Christmas dreams come true

Fairfield City Schools held the annual ‘Tons of Toys’ drive at the beginning of this month, and collected more than 600 toys.

Although the weight of the toys did not quite add up to one ton, those collected are still important to the children who will receive them, according to Nina Rose of Fairfield High School.

Rose is the school nurse, and is also the adviser to the school's Students Against Drunk Driving club, which is the sponsor of the drive. Rose says that the toy drive relates directly to Rachel's Challenge, which it has also undertaken this year. However, she also says that Fairfield had something similar to Rachel's Challenge before now, because the teams there believes in helping others, in character, and because it does not believe anyone should be left without the help they need.

The toys collected this year will go to St. Raphael's Santa Shoppe, and Butler County Children’s Services. Fairfield High School's Bryan Horn, who is student president of S.A.D.D., said the drive is a way for Fairfield residents to help others in need during this season of giving.

School officials could make sure people know about this drive, and upcoming efforts, by working with a postcard printing company to create cards for Mailing that explain ‘Tons of Toys’.
