Fairfield is putting the finishing touches on its comprehensive plan, which it will present to residents soon.
The city has almost completed updating its comprehensive plan, known as ‘Fairfield Forward’, which it will reveal at an upcoming open house. The plan has been called the “road map” for planning the future of the city.
Jacobs Engineering was hired by Fairfield to update the plan, which will guide future reinvestment redevelopment, and development in the community. The project manager for Jacobs Engineering, Paul Culter, said people love Fairfield's diversity and vibrancy, and the sense of community that exists here. Stakeholders and residents alike want to retain this feeling from a business, quality of life, and residential viewpoint.
Residents have already told city staffers some of the things they would like to see included, or excluded, in the plan. These include more options for dining; a limit on the number of used-car lots; enforcement of laws relating to property maintenance; safer routes for pedestrians; and more paths, walking and biking trails, and sidewalks. Mark Wendling, the city manager, said that many parts of the plan were provided by Fairfield residents. Flyer printing can be used at events like this to create handouts for attendees.
The plan will be available for members of the public to review and comment on at the Fairfield Community Arts Center on Wessel Drive, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm next Tuesday, September 24.
