Renovations to Fairfield Stadium are almost complete, and residents got a look at the changes recently. According to a May 26, 2015 news item, the Fairfield City Schools were set to host a meeting the following day to unveil the project to interested parties.
People who wanted to see the new facility were invited to Fairfield High School, where they could look at artists' renderings of the stadium and its new look. In addition, they were able to learn about plans for season tickets, which are going to be sold in three different levels. A limited number of chair-backed seats are available, which the district plans to sell on a first-come, first-served basis.
Gina Gentry-Fletcher, spokeswoman for the Fairfield School District, said that construction is still ongoing, with the locker rooms and concession stands still unfinished. However, completion of the entire project is expected soon.
The stadium, which is 50 years old, was badly in need of renovation. Among the problems that spurred the remodel were aging bleachers, a dilapidated field house, and poor lighting.
The renovations cost approximately $2.6m. The money came from the district's general fund, with additional amounts raised at fundraisers held by the athletic department.
School district officials will want to celebrate the stadium's reopening, so they might consider working with a banner printing company to create colorful, welcoming outdoor streamers to display at the event.
