Fairfield residents have a chance to quite literally have a ball as they see in this weekend.
Hamilton’s Urban Buzz (HUB), a group comprised of artists and young professionals, has been meeting once a month for several years. This year, the group came up with the idea of holding a masked ball in Hamilton, about four miles from Fairfield.
According to Journal-News.com, the group thought it was time for smaller communities to have a major dance event, rather than having to go into Cincinnati for such an evening. Once that had been decided, the group requested and received permission to put masks on the statues in Hamilton’s City of Sculptures. Now each of the bronze statues is wearing a mask, as well as a QR code (a square that people may scan into their mobile devices) containing information about the party
HUB members are urging people to come to the dance wearing black and white—and masks, of course. HUB has already taken black-and-white photos to create Posters to advertise the event, and there will be a photographer present to snap pictures of attendees if they wish.
The masked ball is slated for November 8 from 8:00 pm to midnight at Ryan's Tavern, in Hamilton at 241 High Street. Admission is $5.
Organizers have Posters already done, but they could also work with a flyer printing company to create handouts to help spread the word about the dance, since not everyone has a smartphone or other device capable of reading the QR code.
