Fairfield asks residents for parks input

The trustees of Fairfield Township want to hear from residents about what they would like to have in their parks. To that end, the township is getting ready to form a Fairfield Township Park Committee.

The Committee will be charged with making recommendations to the administration and the board concerning the overall vision for the park system, and specific recommendations about park amenities and equipment.

Shannon Hartkemeyer, the president of the township's trustees, said the parks in the system already have a lot of amenities and are family-friendly, but no matter how good they are, they can always be improved. Hartkemeyer also said that once the board hears from residents, she would like the township to be aggressive in implementing the suggestions, putting them in place by the end of 2017.

Julie Vonderhaar said township officials are eager to have more residents on the committee, and the timing is perfect to form the panel right now, because the board of trustees is stable after a period of turnover. The question before it will be how the parks would look if they are at their best.

Membership on the committee is open to any Fairfield resident over 18, and all interested people are encouraged to apply by sending their qualifications to Vonderhaar c/o 6032 Morris Road; the deadline is December 31, 2016.

Organizations like this can benefit if they work with postcard printing companies to create mailers for locals.
