Last month, Fairfield residents had a chance to enjoy pastries and coffee during a visit with local police.
On June 18, patrons of Truffle Berries got a chance to chat with representatives of the various areas serviced by the Fairfield Police Department, according to an article in The Daily Republic. The event, called ‘Coffee with a Cop’, is held periodically; this was the fifth time this year that citizens and their police have gotten together to talk, and the place was packed.
Many people had grievances, or mentioned matters that they found concerning and wanted the police to be aware of, but many also came just to say hello and get to know the officers. This event was the first time Detective Brett Morris had participated, and he said he had a great time, because it was nice just to be able to talk to the city's residents. Morris added that most of Fairfield's citizens are good people.
Officer Jeremy Profitt, who works with Crime Prevention, said he has been to every Coffee with a Cop, and can assure people that everyone has a good time. Like Morris, Profitt enjoyed being able to simply talk to people without being on a service call. The turnout also impressed the chief, Joe Allio, who called it a ‘great event’.
