Colored pencil art exhibition to happen in Fairfield

The Fairfield Community Arts Center will be host to a colored pencil focused art exhibition beginning in March. This event will be presented by the 119 Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA).

The CPSA is a nonprofit that was founded in 1990 by Vera Curnow. It seeks to promote the use of, educate others about, and encourage innovation in using colored pencils as an art medium. This is done by sponsoring exhibitions and workshops, promoting colored pencil artists, and testing different colored pencils available in the market.

The nonprofit has also created 22 different chapters throughout the country so that it can reach its members on a more personal level. District Chapter 119 serves colored pencil artists in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio by providing exhibitions, workshops, and meetings. Their meetings are held in October, April, January, and July on the 3rd Saturday.

The upcoming exhibition will be the 17th of its kind. Art entries submitted for the event by February 28 will be accepted. Artists must be 18 years old or older but do not need to be a CSPA member. Works must be original, 80%-100% colored pencil, and completed after 2019. The full guidelines can be found on the CSPA site.

The exhibition will be on display from March 12th - April 24th. The CSPA and other educational nonprofits may benefit from brochure printing services to help them spread information.
