Fairfield officials recently announced that Chick-fil-A will be opening a location in Fairfield, the first of the chain to be located in the city.
The restaurant will build its new store on South Gilmore Road, in front of a local Meijer store. The city council approved final plans for the restaurant, which will occupy 4,800 square feet, and a retail center comprising 5,700 square feet, both on a site comprising 2.5 acres. Fairfield's director of development services, Greg Kathman, says the community has wanted a Chick-fil-A for some time, and everyone is excited that one will be opening in the city.
This is not the first time development has been considered for the Meijer site. A retail center and a Panera Bread were planned five years ago, but were never built. The new restaurant will be off South Gilmore Road at Kolb and Casual drives. It will be lower than grade, and constructed into the hillside. The Fairfield store will follow Chick-fil-A's new model, which includes a drive-thru and an outdoor space. When new businesses like this first open, they could distribute promotional Pens as a way to help build brand recognition, and thank their first customers for visiting.
There are other Chick-fil-As in southwest Ohio, including locations in Colerain, Fairfield, Liberty, and West Chester townships. Construction on the new Chick-fil-A is expected to start in Spring 2019, with an opening next fall.
