Butler County plans expo featuring social services

Residents of Butler County, which includes Fairfield, have an opportunity to learn about the services available to them later this week.

The Butler County Family and Children First Council is holding a social services exposition, the third such event. The aim of the expo is to help people gain access to the care they need, as well as improve the quality of that care for families, children, and individuals. The expo is free to everyone who is interested in learning of the resources available to them in the community.

The morning will be devoted to panel discussions. Starting at 10:00 am, they will cover topics such as support for those involved in domestic violence, treatment programs for substance abuse, protective services for children and adults, employment training, emergency financial help, and emergency housing supports.

A resource fair starts at noon in the school's cafeteria. Almost 50 agencies are scheduled to take part. Among them are Butler County Job and Family Services, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio.

The expo begins at 8:00 am on August 7, and runs until 3:30 pm, at Fairfield High School.

Event organizers could work with a flyer printing company to create a handout for attendees, listing the panels as well as where to find specific agencies in the cafeteria.
