A.J. Croce, the son of Jim Croce, is presenting a special performance during which he will play a complete set of his father's classics, some songs of his own, and music that influenced both his father and him. Among the songs on the setlist are Jim's hits “You Don't Mess Around with Jim,” and “Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown.”
Although Jim passed away in 1973, his work has been enjoyed for decades, and more than 50 million of his albums have been sold. Three of his songs went to the top spot on the charts.
A.J.'s career began at age 12, and by age 16, he was playing piano regularly in clubs around San Diego. He has opened for artists such as Dave Matthews and B.B. King; and sat in with such legends as Willie Nelson.
A review of a recent concert says A.J. played for nearly two hours, earning two standing ovations, and blending
“. . . the Tulsa sound of Leon Russell, the New Orleans hoodoo of Dr. John, translation of the genre-bending guitar mastery of Ry Cooder and David Hidalgo.”
The concert, “Croce Plays Croce,” is March 7, at 8:00 pm at the Fairfield Community Arts Center. Brochure printing can be used to create programs for this type of event.
