Columbus set to run for veterans

Rotary is holding a virtual run to honor veterans, and residents of Columbus are encouraged to take part.

The Rotary Honors Veterans 5K Walk/Run is held each year, and the purpose is to honor and congratulate veterans. Usually, the race takes place at the Westerville Rotary Foundation, but due to COVID-19, the run is being held online. As a result, the organizers have opened registrations to anyone living in Ohio.

To help promote the event, Rotary has set up a website with a simple graphic design that provides all the required information. Entrants are expected to organize their own run or walk during the event period, and afterwards, they can submit their results online. All participants will be mailed a shirt and medal afterwards, indicating they have finished the race.

Organizers will also be accepting donations throughout the duration of the event. This year, any donations collected will be given to SEALKIDS, an organization that supports children of those who are part of the Navy SEALS. SEALKIDS provides a variety of services, which includes tutoring, stress reduction, and academic tests.

The Rotary Honors Veterans Virtual 5K Walk/Run will start on November 5th at 8:00 AM and run until November 10th. Anyone interested can check the website for additional details and registration. The registration fee is $35 for adults and $27.50 for children aged 10 and under.
