A magical Christmas event is on the scheduled in Canton.
The Wizards of Winter will appear at the Canton Palace Theatre to perform “The Christmas Dream,” a rock opera. The Wizards are a group of musicians featuring former members of hugely popular rock bands including Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Def Leppard, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Veterans of musical theater and Broadway are also lending their talents to the event.
The group first formed in 2010, when Sharon Kelly, who is a vocalist and flautist, and Scott Kelly, a keyboardist and composer and their friends got together to find a way to help their local food bank. Their work resonated so strongly that major names came to join them.
The plot of the new opera features music from “The Christmas Dream,” their most recent release, as well as “The Magic of Winter,” another album, and their CD, entitled “Wizards of Winter.” The story is a quest to find the real meaning of Christmas.
The Wizards of Winter comprises 12 members who play keyboards, drums, and string instruments to back up outstanding vocalists as the group tells a story that will bring back memories of bygone Christmases. There is something for everyone, from rock to ballads, and rumor has it Mrs. Claus will be there.
The Wizards of Winter will perform Saturday, December 17 at 8:00 pm, with the doors opening at 7:00 pm. Events like these benefit when organizers use poster printing to create advertising.
