Spicy parody set for Canton

A musical based on a hit television show will have one performance in Canton.

“Sex 'n the City: The (Super Unauthorized) Musical Parody” will be presented by the Canton Palace Theatre. Based on the hit television series, the stage show brings the much-loved characters Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, and Carrie on stage to talk about the difficulty of finding love, especially in a large city. Classic lines such as “for the third time, it's a neck massager!” are sure to be part of the show.

The show is the creation of Valerie Witherspoon, with Angela Chan, who wrote the music, and book by Sarah Lowe. Chan has also written music for “Legacy of a Tiger Mother,” about the relationship between Mei and her mother Lily, who is a first-generation immigrant from China; and “Brunch to Broadway,” which showcases iconic tunes.

The original “Sex n' the City” premiered in 1998 on HBO. It ran until 2004, airing 94 episodes that followed the adventures of four young career women trying to find love, and success, in New York City. The show won a number of awards, including seven Emmys.

“Sex n’ The City: The “Super” Unauthorized Musical Parody” is scheduled for January 9, 2021, at 8.00 pm, with doors opening at 7:00 pm. Poster printing can be used to create striking advertising for this type of event.
