The Schizophonics formed in 2009 in San Diego, with Lety Beers on drums and her husband Pat Beers on guitar and handling vocals. Bass players rotate through the band. Since then, the group has appeared in hundreds of shows all over the world, winning a total of seven San Diego Music Awards.
The Schizophonics began to build their reputation in Europe when they opened for, and backed up, El Vez in 2013. They have now appeared in 14 countries, and been the supporting band on tour with The Woggles, Little Barrie, and Rocket from the Crypt. In addition, they have opened for Cage the Elephant, Hives, and The Damned. Shindig magazine said attending a Schizophonics' performance was:
“Like watching some insane hybrid of Wayne Kramer, James Brown, and the Tazmanian [sic] Devil.”
A review of them live said:
“This felt like a once-in-lifetime performance . . . but incredibly, the band will be back . . . go and see this band!”
San Diego club owner Tim Mays, who has run the Casbah for three decades, says they are one of his favorite bands who “bring the goods” whenever they play.
The Schizophonics will be at the Auricle in Canton on January 7, 2021, at 8:00 pm. Flyer printing can be used successfully to announce events like this.
