Race to take flight in Canton
The annual CAK5K on the Runway will return to Canton this October, offering runners the chance to race across an airport runway.
The run will feature multiple categories of competitions, including runs and walks for adults and students, and a free Lil’ Captains Dash for younger children. The unique course will begin and end at the MAPS Air Museum, with a festive finish line area including food and beverages. The route will pass through the Ohio Air Guard Facility and across the tarmac of an airplane runway.
The race will also include The Afterburner Zone, a 100-meter race in the middle of the 5K distance with a separate set of awards. The top finishers for each gender and age group will receive awards at a new post-race party. Local athletic events often use local print shops and trophy makers to help recognize top finishers and contributors.
CAK5K will also include giveaways, with every 200th registrant and finisher getting a free pair of running shoes. The race will also be part of the City of Akron’s bicentennial events, and the Green Great 8 Race Series. The event will also be raising money to contribute to the MAPS Air Museum.
The 2025 edition of CAK5K on the Runway will take place on Sunday, October 4 at the Canton/Akron Airport, starting at the MAPS Air Museum.
