North Canton seeking residents' input

North Canton is actively soliciting residents' opinions on a variety of issues. According to recent reports, the city enclosed a questionnaire with 6,400 utility bills, asking businesses and households to evaluate services the city performs, and giving their feedback about administration, city council, and community issues.

According to David Held, mayor of North Canton, the survey helps city officials make decisions, because the information, both bad and good, comes directly from residents. Having knowledge of their concerns allows the city to work on exactly those areas of concern to residents.

This is the third time North Canton has put out such a survey; it did so in 2009 and again in 2012. Some of the questions have been repeated, such as asking people how they feel life is changing in the city, and if they approve of the direction it's taking; others have been deleted. Thus far, between 700 and 800 people have responded, which city officials thinks is a good response.

The survey is available to all North Canton residents, or anyone who works in the city. Officials plan to send a reminder with the next utility bill, and would like answers to be returned by March 15.

In addition to reminders in the utility bills, the city might work with a postcard printing company on a card for a separate Mailing, also urging residents to submit their comments.
