Canton to host acclaimed actress and author
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin will be appearing in Canton this November as an installment in the Speaking of Books Author Series.
Matlin is known for her performance films like Children of a Lesser God and CODA, as well as being a representative of the deaf community and an author of three children’s novels. She will be appearing in Canton to promote her autobiography I’ll Scream Later, describing her career and efforts to overcome barriers. Matlin will be reading from the book and participating in a meet-and-greet event as part of “An Evening with Marlee Matlin.”
The event is hosted by the Stark Library, with sponsorship from the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Kent State University at Stark, and other organizations, as part of the 11th season of their Dr. Audrey Lavin Speaking of Books Author Series. Ticket prices will include a signed copy of the book, as well as passes to exclusive receptions for those who buy VIP tickets.
There will also be limited edition free seats and meet-and-greet passes available, with pre-signed books available to buy. Author events like this are often advertised through methods like poster printing to appeal to both existing fans of the author and those looking to expand their horizons.
