A one-day special event will take place in Canton soon that could haunt attendees for a long time to come.
The Small Town Monsters are a team of filmmakers who began their work by exploring bizarre and lost history throughout the United States, usually in small towns. They created a film series about these locations, using the words of witnesses and residents. To date, the company has released eight films, including “Minerva Monster,” about several strange happenings in Minerva, Ohio, during the 1970s.
Now, Small Town Monsters is putting on a special event in Canton, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the release of “Minerva Monster.” They plan to screen that film, and will also have guest speakers throughout the day. The highlight of the event will be the world premiere of “On the Trail of . . . UFOs,” their new project, which is a miniseries comprising eight episodes. Special guests include Shannon LeGro, a radio host specializing in the paranormal, and Lyle Blackburn, who investigates Bigfoot.
The day-long event is scheduled for the Canton Palace Theatre, and starts at 11:00 am when the doors open, with films starting at 11:30 am. Things wind up at 11:00 pm. General admission tickets are $12, or $6 for those who wish to see only the film, “On the Trail of . . . UFOs.” Children aged 10 and under will be admitted free with a ticketed adult. Poster printing can be used to create colorful advertisements for events like this.
